Anyone can participate – including large companies. It doesn't matter to households whether you rent, own, or live in a cooperative apartment. If the technical requirements (smart meter and data sharing) are met, there's generally nothing preventing you from becoming a member – however, the final decision rests with the board.

We at BEG WIEN are committed to the Vienna region. Therefore, to participate, you must live in a specific area or have your business located there. Customers: bedeutet das grundsätzlich: Gemeinde Wien – hier gibt es leider keine Ausnahme. Als Feeders: freuen wir uns über alle Personen und Unternehmen mit einer Erzeugungsanlage in Wien oder im Wiener Umland (Niederösterreich und Burgenland – nur Wasserkraft und Windenergie) bis zu einem Radius von 50 km vom Stadtrand aus.

BEG WIEN is fundamentally designed to start with photovoltaic power. In the future, however, hydroelectric and wind power plants – especially in Lower Austria – can also be included.

Yes, during so-called SNAP times – i.e. from April 1st to September 30th, from 10 am to 4 pm – you pay a network work price reduced by approximately 20 % when you purchase BEG WIEN electricity.
